Always Start With A Thorough Bed Bug Inspection

It isn’t always easy to detect a bedbug infestation, especially in the early stages. This is why it takes a trained eye to spot these critters and not only this, these experts know exactly where they are hiding. Of course, you are disturbed by the infestation, but this does not mean that you should just call it quits. Instead you should gather your wits and kick it in gear, because you have a lot of work ahead of you. A licensed exterminator would begin with a thorough bed bug inspection in Chicago and it is recommended for you to do the same.

Reducing Clutter

The top home designers always recommend keeping houses free of clutter. Of course, this is because it makes the home look neater, trendier and stylish, but it is also in your best interest. Clutter is just a disaster waiting to happen, because common household insects love messy environments. Before beginning the bed bug inspection in Chicago, you should remove the clutter from your home. All electronics should be bagged and stored in a safe place until the process is complete.

Start The Inspection

Once all the clutter is gone, it will be time to start the inspection. The first place you should start looking is in the bedrooms. Strip the bed linen off the bed and inspect the mattress and box spring thoroughly. What you are looking for is dark brownish and reddish clusters. If you find these signs, then your home is infested with bed bugs. Now, this does not mean that the inspection process is over, because it has only begun.

The next step is to inspect the wallboards, wood trimming, lose wallpaper, electrical outlets, furniture and stuffed animals. If you find similar signs on these items, the severity of the infestation is most likely very high. This means that you will probably not be able to tackle the job alone. Instead, you should contact a licensed extermination company to set up an in-home estimate appointment.

Contact An Exterminator

A licensed exterminator is trained and skilled in eradicating pest infestations. Each company has a unique business process that they follow and this will be explained to you, during the first face-to-face meeting. You should always ask to see a copy of the exterminator’s business and license credentials, before every deciding to hire them. Always ask for a copy of the company’s business insurance, as well.

What You Can Do To Help

There are things that you can do to help the exterminator. You can start by vacuuming the entire home, especially the mattresses and box springs. Hopefully, you own a vacuum that utilizes paper bags to collect debris. If not, you may want to borrow one from your neighbor, friend or family member. Once the vacuuming is complete, be sure seal the paper bag with tape and take it out to the waste bin. The bedbugs that are trapped inside the bag will not survive for very long, so they will not be allowed to victimize any of your neighbors.
