Chicago Riverwalk

The Chicago Riverwalk is a multi-functional public space located on the South Bank of the Chicago River, extending from Lake Shore Dr, Lake Michigan to Lake Street. Chicago Riverwalk is housed in bars, cafes, and restaurants. The Chicago Riverwalk is a popular spot for downtown workers, locals, and visitors enjoying multifunctional public access and public art. Chicago Police and Chicago Fire Department are also prepared with the following list of safety orders to make everyone’s visit enjoyable and at the same safe from health risks.

Safety Tips and Reminders from Chicago Riverwalk

The city of Chicago Riverwalk is pleased to open its doors to the public despite the threat of COVID-19. Face masks and social distancing is REQUIRED for visitors. Everyone is requested to respectfully abide by the restrictions per the advice of local, state, and national governments.

Reporting an incident to 911 is also encouraged if you suspect any malicious or public concern event.

Pets are allowed but must be on a leash within the vicinity. Bike riding and also skateboarding on the Riverwalk are prohibited. Smoking on the waterfront is prohibited as there are designated places for public smoking.

Public art is also accessible in Chicago Riverwalk where it includes more than 500 artworks exhibited in over 150 municipal facilities around the city. As part of the Public Art Program and includes exhibits along the Chicago Riverwalk. In addition to the magnificent views of architectural skyscrapers which complete the urban and modern beauty of the city.

Community Marketplace is also present in Chicago Riverwalk. Colores Mexicanos, Chiya Chai, Neighborly, and Peach’s on the River kiosk are also available. Upcoming and Current Events

Try saving October 31st for your first Riverwalk Fall Festival and enjoy Chicago fall like no other. Businesses will have Octoberfest celebrations, harvest fest fun, Sounds of the Riverwalk, Halloween activities, Cruises and so much more!

From October 17 up until the last day of the month Chicago Riverwalk provides activities which include Chicago in Tune, Music in the Key of Chicago, and Sounds of the Riverwalk which is held on Sunday from 1 pm to 2:30 pm. Get entertained and visit the Confluence between Lake Street and Franklin and enjoy free concert series. Performers are from the Department of Cultural Affairs.

Island Party Hut will be held on Saturdays starting September 25 through Halloween. This year there is this new Floating Hay Ride so do not miss them out! The Floating Tiki bar will depart to go to the lakefront for a quick trip and have an amazing view of the city’s skyline.
